sacred objects

The most sacred objects are the books of writing (sutras), the statues (of Buddha, for example) and the stupas (small sanctuaries). These should not be placed on the ground or where people sit. They must be placed in a place as high as possible.

We avoid pointing to sacred objects with the index finger. Instead, it is common to gesture towards the object with an open palm. This same rule also applies to monks, nuns or lamas.

We are careful not to step on any of the sacred objects.

The malas or prayer beads are not as sacred, but they are still treated with care and are not placed on the ground.

There is a practice, when lighting incense, not to put out the flame with your breath, but to wave it with your hand to extinguish it. The same goes for candles and candles.
We do not place sacred objects in dirty places, such as the bathroom.
Generally speaking, we do not use sacred objects as artistic displays.
